Everybody’s blogging now. Except me. But now I am. So I figured, what the f*** do I have to write about that anybody would be interested in. Maybe nothing, but I’ll do it anyway. It’s little bit about my life, hopefully without TMI, and a little bit about living on the cheap, and a little bit about me getting chumped so maybe you don’t have to.

For example, I’m sitting here now in a three bedroom 1 1/2 bath 2-story 1930′s bungalow in a hip little Victorian Seaport town, about three blocks from where I work, surfing on free Wi-Fi courtesy of the neighbors I don’t know, and I’m not paying a penny for rent or utilities! Pretty cool, huh? But here’s the chump part… I’m still paying the rent and utilities for the house where I used to live, so that the future ex-wife doesn’t have to get a a real job and can continue her never-ending quest to have her creative genius recognized and rewarded.

Anyway, I’ve always read those articles on how to save money, full of useful tips like stop spending five bucks every morning for your grande half-decaf skinny soy mocha latte at Starbucks, or don’t go to the local bistro every day for a modest $10 lunch, or maybe carpool with one of the other guys in the mortgage department so you can skip driving your Lexus a couple of times a week. Yeah, I stopped doing those things… well, I never did those things to begin with, really.

OK, there was a time in another life when I was working in the Electronic Banking Systems Department and I had a 25 mile each-way commute, so I would carpool with a co-worker in his worn-out ’84 T-Bird so I didn’t have to drive my ’91 Geo Metro every day (although I did ride my ’91 Fat Boy sometimes when I wasn’t carpooling Our whole depertment would go out for about five birthdays a year and shell out 10 or 15 dollars each to treat the birthday person to lunch, but the rest of the time I usually bag-lunched it.

But I degress. Right now I’m sitting here sipping Brazilian coffee I bought for $4 a kilo, looking forward to my five-minute stroll to work, where one of the perks of the job is a home-cooked meal pepared almost every day by one of my multi-talented co-workers. So how can I get much cheaper? That’s what this blog is all about. I’ll be really friggin’ amazed if anyone ever reads this, but if you’re out there, check back soon, give me some input if you care to, and maybe I can give both of you some ideas.
